I don’t know how I missed it, but John Daly was in Portland for the past couple of days for a university fundraiser. When asked what he would do if he wasn’t a professional golfer, he responded: “There really isn’t anything else I think I can do unless I lose 50 pounds and do porn”.
He’s had a rough couple of weeks since finishing well at the British Open, but it looks like JD is definitely continuing to impress on his comeback. In addition to losing 80 pounds like he already has, he says that astigmatism is affecting his putting game, and he’s having Lasik surgury tomorrow. I hope that’s able to take a few more strokes off his game. It sounds like the schedule of 6 tournaments in 6 weeks in two different continents might have taken a toll on him by the time he got to the Buick Open, but once he gets his mind right, along with his list of physical improvements and coaching with Rick Smith, John Daly will be back on top where he belongs.
I’m still pissed that John Daly was golfing less than a half hour from my home and I didn’t know about it. Shame on me.
