US Open Preview

Without the Flamboyant Daly there to distract and compete with him, Tiger should be able to build on his recent success at the Memorial and defend his US Open Title

Tiger won the Memorial.  Therefore, Tiger is healthy.  Therefore, Tiger will win the US Open.  It’s pretty logical, really.  In fact, if I were you, I’d bet on it, as we were right last year.  Last year, Tiger was coming off of knee surgery going into the US Open, and was actually playing with torn knee ligaments.  This year, he is healthy (to our knowledge).  That’s a pretty good sign.

The Phil Factor

Phil Mickelson is just returning to the Tour and is dealing with his wife’s tragic situation (breast cancer, for those who don’t know).  My guess is he will be rusty.  I’ve heard a lot that he will be a fan favorite, and that will help him.  The reason for this is two-fold: First, everyone wants to see him succeed because of his wife’s illness; Second, his previous performance at Bethpage is supposedly where he became a fan favorite, at least according to the media.  However, his status at fan favorite was the case last year when he was playing his “home course” and it didn’t work out for him.  My guess is that it won’t help this year, either.

Also, look at Tigers wife, he cant let her down.

The Wife Factor

Tiger’s wife is very attractive.  I know I’d be on the top of my game to always keep her interested in me.  I’m sure this plays in to Tiger’s preparations as well.  How could it not?

The Daly Factor

John Daly will not be there, further strengthening Tiger’s position.

The Odds

I’d say that Tiger’s odds at 2-1.  Phil’s odds are 10-1. The Fields odds are 7-1.  Not sure what Vegas says, but that’s the tgiab guarantee.
