The Sweet Sixteen (plus some help needed from our readers)…

Well ladies and gentleman, after 48 exciting, excruciating, and encouraging games, we are left with the Sweet 16 in the 2008 NCAA/State tournament. Before we formally announce the Sweet 16, we would like to acknowledge all of the teams that have traveled from so far, and have battled so courageously, but still have lost. There have been upsets of mammoth proportions, and there have been battles of epic proportions, once again proving that the NCAA/State Tournament is the greatest time of the year. With no further ado, we give you the Sweet 16 (in match-up order):

  1. Colorado (1)
  2. Louisiana (5)
  3. North Dakota (14)
  4. New York (2)
  5. Massachusetts (1)
  6. Indiana (5)
  7. Quebec (11)
  8. Oregon (2)
  9. California (1)
  10. South Carolina (12)
  11. Illinois (3)
  12. Missouri (7)
  13. Alberta (9)
  14. Nevada (5)
  15. Mexico (14)
  16. Minnesota (2)

Wow, what a lineup. Those look like the best 16 states to me. And readers, please don’t comment some of the top 16 are not states. Not only will we not care about the comment, but you will be laughed at. And your picture may be posted like Tim’s was. Although Tim left a glowing comment and the post of his picture is purely complimentary.

Let’s take a look at a couple of the Cinderella stories:

North Dakota and Mexico: Two 14 seeds in the sweet 16? What the hell? It should come as no surprise that these two have advanced to the sweet 16. North Dakota has so much to offer (including CFunk2194) that the only real surprise is that it was not a lower seed. Mexico, on the other hand, is its own country. So that makes it easier for them when they are matched up with just lonely states and provinces.

Quebec and Alberta: Two provinces in the sweet 16? What the hell is a province? Apparently Canada has 10 of these, but they also have three territories. What happened to the Yukon territory? Or the Northwest Territories? Or the Nunavut? Did the committee completely overlook the territories? What a tragic mistake by the committee. However, we must give credit where credit is due, and congratulations to Team Canada for its two entries into the Sweet 16.

Look for two regions’ Sweet 16 games to be played tomorrow, with the other two to be played on Wednesday. By Wednesday evening, we should be down to the Elite 8.

In completely unrelated news, please help the staff at tgiab.com….

A certain staff member at tgiab.com was trying to download a song from the internet last Friday. The song in question is “Ghetto Cowboy” by the Mo Thugs Family featuring Bone Thugs N Harmony. The song can literally not be downloaded anywhere. Literally. Nowhere. We had three tgiab.com staff members searching for it, but no luck. Not ITunes, not bit torrent, not anything. So, if anyone has a copy of this song out there, please send it to news@tgiab.com. Take a listen here:

As I am sure you know, it really is a great song. Also, the group Mo Thugs has quite a history (check it out here).

Just a sampling of current members includes Layzie Bone, Flesh-n-Bone, Thug Queen (featured prominently as the woman in the bushes in Ghetto Cowboy), and ConRtist. As we recognize the greatness of the current Mo Thugs Family, we must also remember those that have moved on, including, Krayzie Bone, Wish Bone, Souljah Boy (who has filed a lawsuit against Soulja Boy claiming that he first created the stage name ‘Souljah Boy’), and Powder, who famously sings the following lyrics in Ghetto Cowboy:

“The names Powder P can I get a twelve gauge
Outlawed everyday on the front page
Mr Kid, if you give me the low down
Me and Blackjack, we ready for the showdown
With two double barrels pointed at whatever
We’ll stick together, I’m perdy clever”

That’s perdy good. Again, if anyone knows the whereabouts of this song or of a possible mp3 of this song, please notify news@tgiab.com immediately. Thank you.

  1. seriously guys? two minutes and i’ve found it in two places. we need to discuss your downloading techniques. might take a while though since i have to download an entire discography for you bums. my virtual memory is way to low for this. amateurs.

  2. This tgiab.com’er does not know what virtual memory is, but our virtual memory is undoubtedly way too low for this as well. We are open to any and all suggestions on our downloading techniques, however. Thanks again to one of our avid and attentive readers. Can’t wait to get the file. Juplife, you’re the best.

  3. OK juplife, two items:
    (1) You’re searching for these songs from Toledo, which means you are much closer to Bone Thugs in Cleveland than any of us, giving you a clear advantage.
    (2) tgiab.com has a clearly stated policy of not downloading entire discographies for one song. So even if we were good at googling and knew what virtual memory does, we still wouldn’t download it.
That being said, we can’t wait for you to send it to us.
